About Us
Challenge yourself to fight cancer with Smiling for Smiddy and achieve the extraordinary for cancer research.
On 6 August 2006 we lost our great mate and cycling partner Adam Smiddy to an agressive melanoma. From that day on I realised I had to grab hold of life. Soon after I took to my bike for the inaugural Smiddy Challenge—a 1600 kilometre, eight day cycle from Brisbane to Townsville to raise funds for cancer research. Five years on we've raised more than $2 million.
Smiling for Smiddy events are held to remember not only Adam, but all those who have faced this devastating disease. Hundreds of participants and thousands of donors unite each year to fight cancer through our challenge events.
I invite you to spare a moment to think of Adam's story and your own experiences of seeing cancer affect someone close to you. How far would you go to fight this devastating disease? What would spur you on? Perhaps it's the loss of a friend or family member or just simply that you care enough to give hope to more than 100 000 Australians diagnosed with cancer each year.
Here's your chance to make your mark. Be inspired and feel the Smiddy spirit, find yourself and fund a cure.
