Shaun Gamble

What is your nickname?
Darkelf

Where do you work and what is your role?
I’m the owner/director of our companies and am based in Brisbane.

How long have you been cycling?
7 years

What inspired you to sign up for a Smiling for Smiddy event and what keeps you coming back?
I have been raising money for cancer research for seven years now. Too many people I know have either died from it or have been affected by it and we have to come up with a cure/answer to cancer somehow.

What does it mean to you to raise money for cancer research?
Someone using equipment I helped to fund may discover the answer. I hope that happens before my children are affected by cancer.

How do you plan to fundraise and what is your top fundraising idea or tip?
Beg for friends and staff to help and putting out donation tins in our businesses also help a lot.

What’s your favourite post-ride beverage?
A double espresso.

Do you have any rituals or superstitions before you go for a ride?
I simply check the bike over, including tyre pressure to make sure it is going to keep going. Oh, and don’t forget sunscreen!!!
