For first-time triathlete Renae, signing up to the Noosa Tri as part of Team Smiddy was an easy decision.
“Knowing I’d be part of a big team with Smiddy, knowing I’d have that support, was so comforting. It gave me the confidence to sign up,” Renae said.
“I’d done an Enticer distance tri with some girlfriends, but never an Olympic distance. Some workmates had signed up and hearing their excitement when they talked about it really made me want to join in.”
“And Noosa is such a pinnacle event, normal entry was already sold out when I signed up, getting a spot with Smiddy felt like a ‘secret in’.
As the world’s biggest Triathlon Festival, the Noosa experience is unforgettable.
”Event weekend was incredible, it was such a pumping vibe,” Renae said.
Renae helped out at the Tingirana Noosa Special Triathlon on race eve, with other Smiddy teammates.
“That was so beautiful,” Renae said. “We shared a lot of laughs with the kids.”
“There’s such a great feeling of community on race weekend.
“Walking through Noosa, you see hundreds of Smiddy shirts. Even if you don’t know them, ‘Hi Smiddy’ becomes a pretty common greeting.”
An added bonus of taking on Noosa with Team Smiddy is not only do you get the support of your 350+ teammates, you get their supporters as well!
“It’s so motivating, people see the Smiddy kit when you’re out there on the course and give you a big cheer. And every time you see another Smiddy person out on the course you get a lift.”
“And really, if I can do the Noosa Tri, anyone can. There were people there of every shape, size and age. With the support you get being part of Team Smiddy, if you’re thinking about signing up, I’d say ‘Just do it’.”
Renae loved her first tri so much that she’ll be back at Noosa with Team Smiddy in 2016.
